18 million U.S. households were food insecure at some time during 2023.

The Backyard Farm Collective, headquartered in Monrovia Indiana, is lowering that statistic within our local area.

By educating, supporting, and uplifting the community so that they can grow food for themselves.
And if they come upon an abundance upon harvest, helping distribute food where it is most needed.

    The Mission

Support local farmers and gardeners to meet the food security need for our community.

How will we do it? It starts with the farmer, big or small. We will ensure our community of farmers and gardeners are well equipped to grow food for themselves and their family. And if they come upon an abundance, they have a place to sell, trade, or donate it. Once donated, we want to distribute this produce fairly to the community. Everyone deserves access to fresh and nutritious food. Did you know that the apples at supermarkets can be up to a year old by the time they are put on shelves?

    About the Backyard Farm Collective

Backyard Farm Collective is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of improving the food security of the local population.

This is done through collaborating with farmers, gardeners, and the community. Educating on growing food for oneself and distributing any donated abundance to places of need.

Backyard Farm Collective manages two small-scale farming operations, Monrovia community garden and Backyard Farm Collective Headquarters. We also manage a hydroponic greenhouse operation.
